Phil Levson

Phil has worked in the non-profit sector for over 30 years. He has extensive experience and success working with corporations and raising significant funds through engagement of corporate community investment programs.

Biography

Phil Levson is a fundraising consultant, educator, and non-profit leader with more than 30 years of experience in philanthropy, fund development, social services, and organizational leadership.

As President of The Non Profit Management Group, Phil advises non-profit organizations on capital campaigns, major gifts, transformational gifts, and legacy giving, while also providing philanthropic counsel to donors, philanthropists, and professional advisors.

Prior to founding his consulting practice, Phil served as Vice President and Director of Development for STARS Foundation, where he oversaw annual fundraising revenues exceeding $20 million, helped successfully complete a $25 million capital campaign, and provided leadership to a team of more than 30 staff. Earlier in his career, he was Director of Fund Development at The Calgary Foundation, where he helped raise more than $140 million in new contributions over five years and played a key role in developing both the Leave A Legacy Calgary program and Social Venture Partners.

Phil holds both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary, where his graduate research focused on fundraising audits for non-profit organizations. Throughout his career he has taught and presented on philanthropy, fundraising strategy, financial resource management, and social services leadership.

A long-time community volunteer, Phil currently serves as President of the Inglewood Community Association and has held numerous leadership roles within the charitable sector, including Chair of the Southern Alberta Roundtable for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.
