Biography
Sarah Downey is a nonprofit leader and ethical AI consultant with over 20 years of on-the-ground nonprofit leadership experience. As a former Executive Director, she has navigated the real pressures of the sector including tight budgets, staff burnout, board dynamics, and the constant tension between mission and margin. She is passionate about helping organizations move beyond traditional grant cycles and think creatively about revenue so they can build sustainable impact.
Sarah holds an MBA in Strategic Leadership and certifications in change management and risk management. She is the founder of Sarah Downey Consulting, supporting mission-driven organizations across Canada as an ethical AI consultant, helping teams adopt new tools in ways that are values- based, human-centered, and aligned with their mission.
When she is not coaching or consulting, Sarah is building frameworks around ethical AI governance and policy for Canadian nonprofits. She believes deeply in the resilience and creativity of the nonprofit sector and brings genuine excitement to the work of helping organizations fulfill their mission.
